Downtown Matters -- A New Column in the Planning Commissioners Journal
Planning Commissioners Journal
Kennedy Lawson Smith, long-time Director of the National Trust for Historic Preservation's National Main Street Center and frequent speaker on downtown issues, has joined the Planning Commissioners Journal (PCJ) as a regular columnist.
According to Wayne Senville, Editor of the PCJ, "We're excited that Kennedy will be writing for the Planning Commissioners Journal. She brings not just an outstanding breadth of knowledge on downtown issues, but a lively and easy-to-understand writing style."
Kennedy Smith will be covering a broad range of planning-related issues facing downtowns, ranging from parking and pedestrian issues to strategies for ensuring that downtowns play a key role in regional economies. Her first column -- appearing in the Winter 2005 issue of the PCJ -- makes the case for why having a strong downtown is vitally important to communities.
