Get Urban! Nationwide book tour beginning April 8 in Chattanooga

Capital Books

To correspond with the April release of Get Urban! The Complete Guide to City Living, Capital Books is announcing that Kyle Ezell, A.I.C.P., author of Get Urban! will be embarking on a nationwide "Get Urban America!" tour. Written primarily for mobile baby boomers and fresh-faced young people who are choosing to transform their lives from complacent suburbanites into energy-loving urbanites, the book will also be of great interest to planners, architects, urban designers, urban developers, innovative neighborhoods, and downtowns.

As a professional urban planner, Kyle realized that enforcing zoning codes and jumping on the latest planning bandwagon will never be enough to save downtowns and shrinking cities. In his jobs, he became tired of hearing about the lack of demand for downtown housing and business in the majority of "heartland" American cities. He has written the first self-help book for Americans who want to "Get Urban!" and find their urban lifestyle in their local city. Kyle is convinced that Wichita, Tulsa, Omaha, Des Moines, Birmingham, Nashville, Buffalo, and all the other second-tier cities will flourish again if their locals undertand the benefits that a real city environment in their "hometown downtowns" can offer. "Local urban supply equates to local urban demand." Kyle hopes that Get Urban! will spawn cities nationwide to start building places for people in cities that are craving new life and new energy.

In "Get Urban," planners and developers will enjoy the "Urban Quality Checklist", and taking the "Getting Urban 101" course. 35 U.S. cities are featured with 41 "urbs" (neighborhoods).
