"The three-hour PBS program 'The First Measured Century,'tells the story of America by the numbers through the eyes ofthose who did the measuring and the interpreting, often inhighly controversial and unusual circumstances." The show includes discussions of urban, rural, and suburban population trends, census, immigration, mobility, poverty, transportation, the growth of cities, and more.
