The World's Best Cities

The editors of Travel + Leisure magazine released their annual list of best cities to visit.

"Florence tops the list of World's Best Cities in 2006 and is joined again by some lovely perennials -- Rome, New York, and Sydney. But this year, Travel + Leisure readers prove that theyâ€™re also intrepid and curious, giving high marks to far-flung cities like Beirut and Kathmandu."

Florence takes the crown from Sydney, Australia, which held first place for the last four years. New York City is named best city in the United States for the sixth consecutive year.

Thailand is the only Asian destination, with both Bangkok and Chiang Mai making the list.
