Tsunami Uncovers Indian 'Atlantis'

Archaeologists have begun excavations of what is believed to be an ancient city that was uncovered by the Dec. 26 tsunami.

As the waves of the Dec. 26 tsunami receded, the force of the water removed sand deposits that had covered three rocky structures near the coastal town of Mahabalipuram, India. The structures appear to belong to a port city built in the seventh century, and could be part of the legendary seven pagodas, a series of intricately carved shore temples, six of which were believed to be lost to the sea centuries ago.
