A review of the plans to transform Montreal's waterfront.
"It was the entry to North America for two centuries. Unfortunately, Montreal waterfront has also been something of an eyesore thanks to abandoned factories, and huge vacant lots. Now an ambitious plan outlines what the waterfront could look like in 2025 and includes ideas for increasing green space, bringing more industry, tourists and residents back to the waterfront. The plan calls to cover one expressway and to convert another one into an urban boulevard, allowing the construction of over 10,000 residential units, of which a significant proportion will consist of affordable and social housing."
