Design firm Grimshaw is developing a Climate Emergency Taskforce. Here's the thinking behind the effort.
Grimshaw, a design firm with offices around the world, is developing a Climate Emergency Taskforce charged with making its business operations carbon neutral and its design projects net-zero carbon. The Architectural League of New York spoke with Paul Toyne, a trained ecologist now working in sustainability leader at the firm, about the initiative. Toyne says that, while architects can't solve climate change alone, they're a critical part of the solution. Although there's some disagreement within the profession about which mitigation strategies designers should adopt, he believes that firms need to take action now using the best information available to them.
