Residents of Los Angeles' sprawling San Fernando valley say they'd be willing to reside in or near urban villages.
"Urban villages are dense neighborhoods where retail stores and housing coexist, public transportation is near, and pedestrians can move about with ease. The findings belie the stereotype of the Valley as the embodiment of what the study called the 'great middle-class ideal of owning a home in a sunny, well-lit, comfortable community'... the study indicates that the Valley is a prime location for such mixed-use projects as those now found in other areas of Los Angeles County, such as Pasadena's Paseo Colorado, which features residential units above trendy shops, along a major transportation corridor."
