Allen, Texas, a growing suburb north of Dallas, is dealing with a proposed mixed-use development that would bring apartments, office, retail, hotel, and townhomes together as part of a master plan. The project, called Stacy Green, will occupy 70 acres when complete.
Despite mixed-use projects already in existence in communities closer to Dallas such as Richardson and Plano, decision makers in Plano are concerned about density and increased traffic as a result of the project. Nonetheless, demographic trends and a strong apartment market are driving demand for denser, mixed-use developments.
