Our Transportation Planning team is looking for a Senior Manager in our Seattle, Washington office. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts in an advisory capacity on administrative, technical and regulatory aspects of planning
  • Manage a variety of planning studies related to multi-modal transportation, public transit, feasibility studies, policy documentation and research   
  • Directs technical direction for the development and execution of planning research and studies  
  • Demonstrates strong commitment to keeping up-to date in technical knowledge of current practice and ability to share knowledge with junior to mid-level staff and becoming proficient in applying emerging practice
  • Approves planning documents for compliance with contract requirements and quality of technical content
  • Analyze complex and large planning assignments, and review work of other staff  
  • Prepare, review and present technical information to internal and external working groups  
  • Oversees and approves the work of planners and technicians performing highly complex planning activities 
  • Oversees risk management, quality assurance and financial procedure  
  • Directs and manages planning team project delivery and resource management
  • Works with district business line and business development managers to win work and grow the planning practice
  • Organizes and leads client meetings; develops and presents alternative solutions and ideas   
  • Serve as project manager and task manager by leading tasks for multi-modal transportation and policy for statewide, regional, and local projects  
  • Manages and mentors staff, ensuring to meet business line goals and objectives  
  • Manages scope, schedule and budget requirements in large, complex projects  
  • Leads business development work by managing client relationships and selling work  
  • Growth and diversification of project portfolio
  • Provides information and support to government officials, clients, users and public  
  • Manage client relationships with minimal input from senior staff  
  • Coordinate and inform with other disciplines and practices within WSP  
  • Identify circumstances for junior staff to grow in their roles
  • Exercise responsibly and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s code of conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Other duties as required by business needs

Required Qualifications include: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent   
  • 12 plus years of experience in in one of the following areas: planning or transportation planning

Preferred Qualifications or “Great to Haves” include:  

  • Post Graduate Education (Graduate Level courses, short courses, Masters, PhD)   
  • AICP, PE, or other relevant licensure/ certification   
  • Active member and hold leadership role in local professional organization   
  • Participation on conference program with panels, poster sessions, papers and presentations
  • Experience working with public agencies
  • Expertise in other technical software relevant to planning, engineering, graphic design, and data analytics     
  • Experience managing and growing a diverse team
