ABOUT THIS ROLE:
This position provides overall leadership and management of the Current Planning division. This position performs difficult professional and administrative work involving the overall management of the County’s land use hearing processes. Work entails planning, supervising and directing major project and program areas and caseload of substantial scope and complexity; coordinating special projects; setting objectives and priorities; and facilitating collaboration. The Current Planning Manager recommends and develops new processes to streamline application review processes and respond to changes to legal and technical requirements. The position also participates in the preparation of related budgets; and provides support to local and regional Boards, Committees, and Commissions.
The ideal candidate will have an educational background in Planning or a related field. A Master’s Degree and AICP certification is preferred. The candidate will have 6+ years of experience with Project Management for large or complex projects. Direct experience with local government is a plus. They will have experience working directly with community groups and elected officials. They will be competent with technical writing and will have extensive experience writing reports and memoranda. They will have experience working in a fast-paced environment or a jurisdiction with fast growth.

ENTRY SALARY RANGE: $79,009.00 - $96,452.50

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or G.E.D. and 6 years of related experience.
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
Incumbents may be subjected to travel.
