Director of Community Development
The City of Alhambra is in search of a Director of Community Development to lead the planning, building, housing and economic development, and code enforcement functions of one of the premier organizations in the San Gabriel Valley.
The Director of Community Development will oversee a team in assisting business owners and developers through the plan review and approval process; developing a comprehensive development plan and improved land use; reviewing the City general plan and complex development proposals, acquisitions and disposition agreements, recruitment and retention of local businesses; administering the affordable housing programs; evolving the Department strategic plan; and managing the City building inspection and code enforcement activities. The ideal candidate will be a strong committed leader and public servant who will promote creativity and innovation, enhance process efficiencies, and effectively utilize the talents and leadership of staff.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in urban planning, economics, public administration, or a related field; and seven years of increasingly responsible managerial experience including significant administrative personnel management responsibilities within planning, building, housing and economic development, and code enforcement functions.
