Job Responsibilites:This role supports the Project Director and team in delivering traffic engineering, transportation planning services, and policy analysis and development to the Illinois Tollway. The Planning Manager will oversee and conduct review of technical work and must have a strong understanding of analytical tools such as regional travel demand modeling, microsimulation, and statistical analysis. 
-Under the guidance of the Project Director, manage a diverse, multidisciplinary team of planners, engineers, and data scientist. Provide team leadership, helping mentor and develop junior staff 
-Assist Project Director with project management functions and client service 
-Responsible for all aspects of task management; develop staffing plans; ensure adherence to scope, schedule, and budget; provide ongoing quality control and quality assurance
-Review, assess, and interpret technical assessment in areas such as regional travel demand modeling and forecasting, interchange analysis, and corridor studies 
-Apply transportation economics, transportation finance, and congestion management principles to user-fee studies like toll roads, managed lanes, mile-based user fees, and cordon (congestion) pricing
-Carry out spatial and statistical analyses of transportation systems performance, demographic trends and forecasting, and land use development
-Oversee development of technical reports, presentations, and other written deliverables for technical and non-technical audiences
-Guide transportation policy research and analysis efforts. Develop context-appropriate policy guidance for client 
-Opportunities to work on other CDM Smith projects of local, regional, and national significance
-Support business development pursuits for transportation planning opportunities in Midwest region

Minimum Requirements:

-Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, urban, community or regional planning. AICP, PTP, PE, CEP or approved certification in a related field. Or Master's degree in civil engineering, urban, community or regional planning
-7 years of related experience with bachelors degree or 6 years of experience with Masters degree
-Travel: Domestic and/or international travel may be required.  The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands
