The Early-Bird Registration rate has been extended to December 20th for the 17th Annual New Partners for Smart Growth: Practical Tools and Innovative Strategies for Creating Great Communities Conference. For the first time ever, this dynamic event will be held February 1-3, 2018 in San Francisco, CA.

Inspiration and Implementation
This year, the conference program will focus on “inspiration and innovation,” and will feature eight focused thematic tracks, and will provide participants with an opportunity for a more dynamic, hands-on learning experience. Each track will focus on a set of topics strongly connected to timely community issues or challenges, with smart growth as the thread woven between and throughout each track.

The 2018 program will allow participants to go deeper into a topic, while continuing to connect back to broader placemaking efforts with a multidisciplinary group of partners tackling community challenges. Each track will be designed to create a multidisciplinary “peer cohort” of practitioners that leave with an implementation strategy and new models, tools, and financing strategies to achieve their community goals. This year’s tracks are:

  • Building Capacity in Small Towns and Rural Communities
  • “One Water” for Resilient Communities
  • Adapting to a Changing Climate
  • Improving Transportation Accessibility and Connectivity
  • Designing Healthy Communities
  • Creating Housing for Everyone
  • Planning and Designing Smart-Growth Communities
  • Inclusive Prosperity of People and Place

Participants, as always, will be able to attend sessions across tracks. Additionally, coordinated keynotes and networking activities will be included throughout the program to ensure that participants are learning and networking with a broad, multi-disciplinary national audience.

Conference Tours
This year’s conference will feature 14 tours of local model projects which fall into the eight focused thematic tracks. Be sure to pre-register for one of the tours held on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday before and after the conference!
