Into an active development environment, and the resulting heightened pitch of development controversies, comes a new app from the city of Seattle that allows the public to track development projects.
"The city on Tuesday unveiled its newest online application, Shaping Seattle: Buildings," reports Marc Stile. "It has a map that gives the locations and detailed information on active projects that have to go through the design review process."
"Users can view and download each project's specifications, illustrations, permit statuses and upcoming community meetings. In addition, the mobile-friendly map lets users comment on proposed projects."
The city hopes that the app will facilitate a more transparent design and plan review process.
