Back from the Dead? California Legislature Reconsiders Redevelopment

Via competing bills, California's Legislature is holding a surprisingly quiet debate on what redevelopment was for in the first place and what aspects of it may be worth reviving.

California legislators are past the first shock of abolishing redevelopment; they've moved on to consider which aspects of it they may want to re-create. It's an opportunity to reconsider what approaches to municipal structures and services are equitable and useful—one that seems surprisingly little-discussed among political activists or the larger public.
