The Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition and Kaiser Permanente are teaming up to offer safety training, bike helmets, and lights to day laborers.
"Several day laborers who use bicycles as their primary means of transportation will receive helmets and safety training funded by a $25,000 grant awarded Monday by Kaiser Permanente to the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition.
'Ensuring good health extends beyond our doors,' said Mark Costa, executive director of the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. 'We invest significant resources through our community benefit programs to improve the health of our communities.
'Riding bikes, including bicycle commuting, can be a healthful, environmentally friendly part of a healthy lifestyle,' Costa said."
