Creating an Inclusive Cycling Community

Community Cycling Center is working to close the racial gap in Portland's cycling community.
"What they learned was eye opening, [Community Cycling Center's community and programs director Alison] Graves said. 'Affordability is a big barrier. But we also started hearing some deeper cultural, more challenging concerns, like that bicycling is an activity for white people or for Americans.'"

Biking more affordable than car
Many migrant workers in PA use bicycles as their main form of transportation along busy rural arteries. For them, a cheap bike is affordable when a car is not.
