Vancouver, 'Supermodel of North American Cities'
Canadians are impressed by USA Today's rave review of their city last week, but the CBC says that its not all wine and roses in Vancouver.
"Despite being hailed last week by USA Today as a "stunning glass city [that] is ready for its close-up as host of the next Olympics," and "a perennial on top-destinations and livable-city rosters,” visitors say they are bothered by some aspects of the city.
"The homelessness isn’t great, like East Hastings," said Stephanie Cavaghan.
"It’s not something you like to see — people homeless or people strung out on drugs."
The lengthy article glossed over Vancouver's homelessness in the Downtown Eastside, stating simply that "Guides warn tourists against venturing there."
However, the issue is clearly prominent in the minds of tourists."
