Want a buy a home for less than $100,000? Check out these communities profiled by Money Magazine.

Money Magazine has compiled a list of the 25 most affordable communities -- most of which are sprinkled through Middle American in places like Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Upstate New York, Iowa and Indiana.

What's the most affordable place in America? Northbrook, Ohio.

"This sleepy Cincinnati suburb has more than 11,000 people and some of the best housing buys in a region known for affordable places to live. Residents say they like the low-key living there, aided by a high percentage of home ownership. Northbrook is one of many Ohio communities benefiting from an influx of out-of-state buyers looking for investment properties. Prices, however, remain reasonable and the community has managed to maintain its character."

With a median family income of $59,902 and a median home price of $83,760, there's plenty of opportunity to buy a home for all but the poorest families.
