Providence's Downcity District Comes Of Age

New England's second biggest city is experiencing a wealth of revitalization, and nowhere else is it more evident than in downcity, a district reconceptualized by Andres Duany in the 1990's.
"Almost everywhere you look these days, from Capital Center to the Financial District to the Providence waterfront, the city seems to be one big hard-hat area. By comparison, the city's old retail district, now known for better or worse as Downcity, can seem almost sleepy.
But don't let the lack of 'under construction' signs fool you. No part of the city has changed as much or as fast over the past few years as Downcity."
