Valley Transit Zone Found to be Financially Viable
2 August 2000 - 10:15am
A study finds that a San Fernando Valley transit zone could run buses 20 percent cheaper than the current costs under the MTA.
The study conducted by consultants from Transportation Management and Design Inc. found that the MTA suffered from a bloated bureaucracy while a seperate transit zone for the Valley would eliminate these overhead costs. Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky comments that he believes "the Valley stands to benefit from a transit zone."
