Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) NJIT’s M.Arch. is a NAAB accredited and STEM designated program for a new generation of leaders in the profession of architecture. This degree is designed for working professionals and available either full-time or part-time. The 90-credit program is intended for applicants who have earned a bachelor’s degree in a field other than architecture and who wish to earn a degree leading towards professional licensure as an architect.

A shortened program is available through advanced placement for applicants who have a pre-professional Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Architecture or another field directly related to architecture, or students who have a Bachelor of Architecture from a non-NAAB accredited program. Full- and part-time degree options are available.

Dual Degree Options

M.Arch. students can pursue a dual degree in Master of Urban Design (MUD) or the Master of Science in Architecture (M.S.Arch.) with a concentration in Sustainability, Urbanism and/or Computation. Students can also take advantage of NJIT's rich multi-disciplinary resources by combining the M.Arch. with master's programs in business, civil engineering, or construction management. Students in these dual degree programs can apply up to fifteen credits of coursework earned within the professional M.Arch. program to a second master's degree.

Curriculum

The 90 credit curriculum consists of core courses in tools and techniques, history of architecture, construction, structures, environmental control systems and landscape and urbanism and elective courses in history / theory and building technology. Before registering for courses, all students must consult with the graduate advisor to plan an appropriate program of study. If students demonstrate that they have already taken equivalent course work, degree credits for those courses are waived in the 90-credit total required for the program, and they are then given advanced placement.
