The City of Oklahoma City is seeking an experienced and effective Principal planner to lead and manage the Planning Department’s Planning and Redevelopment Division, which is responsible for long-range, transportation, and strategic planning. 

This Division Manager is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the City’s recently adopted comprehensive plan, planokc, through oversight of many interesting and exciting initiatives, projects, and programs. Of note are a major update of the City’s development codes and subdivision regulations, a new Street Design Manual, small area plans, infrastructure planning, the Commercial District Revitalization Program, citywide transportation planning, and several other transformative projects and initiatives.  The Division Manager will supervise 8-12 skilled employees, and work with teams of other professionals inside and outside of the organization.  In order to be effective, the manager must develop and maintain strong working relationships with senior City staff and other professionals from all City Departments, including Public Works, Utilities, the City Manager’s Office, Transit, Finance, and Development Services.  Interpersonal acumen and well-developed planning-related skills, knowledge and experience are essential.  This is a key position in the City’s organization, and requires someone who exemplifies the Planning Department’s values of professionalism, integrity, ownership mentality, collaboration and open-mindedness, effective communication, creativity, positivity, and passion.

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications, but will be within the position’s salary range of $69,948 - $106,968.
