"The controversial $2.2 billion highway proposed to run through four counties and connect Interstates 75 and 85 north of Atlanta was put on hold by former Gov. Roy Barnes last year. Perdue, Barnes' successor, has declared it a dead project... State law requires the DOT to sell surplus land, with the original owners having first option."
