"How public is public space? The term public space needs redefinition. The politically correct idea that public space belongs to everyone and should accordingly be designed for everyones use has run its course. All too frequently this approach has led to the creation of neutral spaces lacking all identity and hence of no use to anyone. Public spaces should not be regarded as places for one and all, but as forums enabling exchange and interaction between groups with different social backgrounds."
