Show you know: get a certification in Creative Placemaking
The Ohio State University
Creative Placemaking is one of the fastest growing fields in urban planning. The Certification in Creative Placemaking program (http://go.osu.edu/CreativePlacemaking) can help you stand out and succeed.
More than 1,500 communities across the United States (and more around the world) have pursued this new strategy for community and economic development through arts and culture. More than a dozen foundations, government agencies and corporations in America actively support it, and organizations like LISC and the Trust for Public Land now have positions in creative placemaking.
The Certification program can help you build the knowledge, skills and portfolio to show colleagues, employers and potential clients that you know this work. You can get deep insights into community development, local economic development, practical research and evaluation, team building, site planning, cultural tourism, and entrepreneurial leadership. You can work on a realistic final project or plan that demonstrates their skill and creativity. You learn from leading practitioners in this field, as well as from planning, policy and arts professionals from around the United States and other countries.
“I started a company that uses all the principles from the program,” said recent graduate Amanda Golden. “We are gaining some traction and people are starting to notice our work.”
“The placemaking program is the most intellectually stimulating experience I have ever had; nothing even rivals it except perhaps art school,” said Debra Rose, Ph.D., “The other participants are truly remarkable.”
Produced by The Ohio State University City and Regional Planning program and the National Consortium for Creative Placemaking, this online program is convenient (no required travel or meetings) and reasonably priced. Other benefits include up to 18 AICP Certification Maintenance credits and free access to our creative placemaking webinars (which offer another 6.5 AICP CM credits)
