The food and beverage industry includes over 30,000 establishments and 1.47 million employees, making it is one of the nation’s largest manufacturing sub-sectors in terms of employment, output and total, and gross domestic product, according to a recent report.

The food and beverage industry can create jobs all along the value chain—from producers of the raw ingredients to Fortune 500 processors and manufacturers. To keep each link in this chain healthy, there has to be access to capital and real estate, affordable and skilled labor, adequate utilities, food safety assurances, and a conducive regulatory environment. This session will take an in-depth look at how economic developers are helping to keep this essential industry growing.
