Gangsta Gardener Coming to South OC

Urban Land Institute

The ULI’s “Best of the Best in Sustainable Community Development Awards,” raise awareness of exemplary sustainable community development practices in SoCal.  This program is part of the ULI’s national real estate industry leadership efforts with the ULI Orange County/Inland Empire Sustainable Communities Initiative Council responsible for program implementation.

Rick Bishop, Executive Director, Western Riverside Council of Governments, is receiving the Bob Santos Industry Award for Sustainable Community Development and winners in three categories:  program, policy and project, will be announced at the BoB Awards Program on April 16, 2015.

Ron Finley is the Keynote Speaker.  He is an empowering, inspiring and entertaining speaker (see his TED Talk).  Some may think he is only talking about urban gardens and bringing fresh food to poor neighborhoods in the US; well, that is partially true and that is an important message.  The bigger message is though about building healthy communities and how changes in urban land uses are changing people’s lives.

Pre-registration is available at orangecounty.uli.org.   Registration is available at the door.
