This webinar will present the findings, recommendations and examples from the recently released Economic Development Research Partners report Shifting Workforce Development into High Gear: How Economic Developers Lead Workforce System Alignment.
A skilled workforce is one of the most important factors impacting a community's competitiveness. Economic developers can take on a leading role in improving their communities' workforce through industry-focused sector strategies that meet the human resources needs of the private sector while providing opportunity for workers. This strategy is increasingly being supported by national and state policy, including the recently passed Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.
Attendees will learn about:
- Roles that economic developers can take to create workforce development partnerships
- Successful strategies to collaborate effectively, drawn from the example of Tulsa Regional Chamber
- Recommendations for how to best influence workforce development on a regional, state, and local scale
Webinar attendees will receive a complimentary copy of the report after completion of the session.
