It’s Not Too Late to Register for the First-Ever California Adaptation Forum!
Local Government Commission
The inaugural California Adaptation Forum, hosted by the Local Government Commission and the State of California, is being held August 19-20 in Sacramento, CA. Don’t miss this opportunity to come together with nearly 600 adaptation policy leaders and practitioners from across California to participate in more than 40 multidisciplinary sessions, half-day workshops, tours, networking activities and more.
Hear from Experts during Engaging Sessions
With a number of urgent climate impacts affecting local environments and economies throughout California, now is the time to get ahead of the game and become part of the climate-adaptation solution. The California Adaptation Forum will provide excellent opportunities to share and learn more about how government agencies and communities are pursuing innovative strategies and responding to the state’s most critical issues, including the drought and severe wildfires.
Keynote speaker State Water Resources Control Board Vice Chair Frances Spivy-Weber will discuss the State’s response to the drought, climate-change impacts on water supplies and the crucial partnerships needed to effectively and adequately respond to the increasingly dry conditions in California.
Keynote speaker Chief Ken Pimlott, who leads the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, will help kick off the Forum by sharing his perspective on fire management, drought and Cal Fire’s efforts to adapt to climate-change threats. Several breakout sessions will also feature forest, drought and flood management strategies – among other topics – that local governments, businesses and residents can implement in their own community.
Visit the Forum website to explore the full program we have to share with you in Sacramento this summer.
Get Credit for Your Participation
Continuing education credits for AICP planners have been approved for all breakout and plenary sessions. All approved sessions will be marked in the program with CM# and the number of credits received. Total: 11.0 CM credits.
