Master of Urban Planning - Partially Online

The Master of Urban Planning (MUP) at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee is a professional graduate program designed to equip you to transform communities, influence policy, and build connections across diverse neighborhoods. 

The program welcomes students from any undergraduate background and gives you the tools to shape urban spaces and advocate for social justice by working alongside faculty and partners on issues like housing, transportation, and economic development.

Curriculum & Learning Approach

  • Combines coursework, practice-based projects, internships, and faculty-led research.
  • Strong emphasis on real-world experience with community groups, agencies, nonprofits, and public organizations.

Optional Concentrations

  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS): Spatial analysis for transportation, housing, economic development, environment, and more.
  • Real Estate Development: Prepares students for roles in public or private development; requires at least 21 credits in designated courses.
