The AIA Announces the Expansion of the 2011 Sustainable Design Assessment Team Program

The American Institute of Architects

Recently recognized by the International Association for Public Participation as the "Organization of the Year", the AIA's Center for Communities by Design is committed to sustainable design that creates communities and buildings which advance enduring public and environmental well-being. The mission of the SDAT program is to provide technical assistance and process expertise to help communities develop a vision and framework for a sustainable future. By achieving balance between cultural, environmental, and economic systems, communities can sustain a place as a stage for human settlement. The SDAT program upholds the AIA Design Assistance team values of utilizing a multidisciplinary team approach; ensuring the objectivity of all participating team members; and requiring broad, inclusive public participation and support. The final deadline to submit applications for consideration in the 2011 SDAT program is May 2, 2011. Applications will be reviewed in May, and recipient communities will be notified by the end of that month. Any additional applications received after the review period will be considered for the 2012 SDAT program.

To view the SDAT Call for Applications, and to access past SDAT applications and other related resources, please visit the AIA Center for Communities by Design website at http://www.aia.org/about/initiatives/AIAS075425.

The Center for Communities by Design will hold a teleconference for communities interested in learning more about the SDAT program and the application process on April 1, 2011 at 3:00 pm Eastern. If you would like to join this call, please indicate your interest by sending an email to [email protected].
