Rudy Bruner Award for Urban Excellence, Bruner Foundation
The Rudy Bruner Award for Urban Excellence celebrates the creation of great urban places that are well-designed, make demonstrable contributions to the social, environmental and economic conditions of their communities, and illustrate the interplay of process, place and values in their development. Over the course of the RBA's 24-year history, it has recognized a diverse range of architecture, landscape, urban design, planning, historic preservation and community development projects. The Rudy Bruner Award is distinguished by its broad eligibility criteria, its detailed on-site evaluations and case studies of each finalist, and its multi-disciplinary Selection Committee of urban experts from across the country. This year's Selection Committee includes:
- Honorable Jay Williams, Mayor, Youngstown, OH
- Randy Gragg, Editor-in-Chief, Portland Monthly, Portland, OR
- Dan Pitera, Executive Director, Detroit Collaborative Design Center, Detroit, MI
- Renata Simril, Senior Vice President, Forest City Development West Coast, Los Angeles, CA
- Edward K. Uhlir, Executive Director, Millennium Park, Inc., and President, Uhlir Consulting LLC, Chicago, IL
- Jess Zimbabwe, Executive Director, Daniel Rose Center for Public Leadership in Land Use, Urban Land Institute, Washington, DC
The Award is open to built projects in the 48 contiguous United States, located in any incorporated city, town, or village; a neighborhood within a city; or an officially recognized region made up of two or more cities. Any person who has been involved in the planning, development or operation of a project may apply. For more information, visit www.brunerfoundation.org/rba/apply.
