Unlimited Planning Data for $5
Cubit
What's Cubit?
------------------
Cubit is a new technology that planners use to get cut-and-paste ready data describing their project area in seconds. You draw your project on a Google map interface, click a button and get formatted data, text and maps for your planning documents. You can try Cubit for free here: http://www.cubitplanning.com
When Would You Use Cubit?
------------------
- You do transportation planning or corridor planning.
- You work on community development block grants.
- You do environmental assessments.
Basically, planners use Cubit when they need to quickly get demographic and economic data for small geographic areas (think a neighborhood or 500 feet around a 1 mile stretch of highway or a watershed).
When Wouldn't You Use Cubit?
------------------
- You need data at a large geographic level--like for all of Los Angeles or for all of Texas.
- Your in-house GIS guru has already built you a custom application so you can get formatted data for your projects in seconds.
- You are a GIS guru who loves to find spatial data, re-project shapefiles and associate databases.
Why is Cubit only $5 bucks?
------------------
We want you to try Cubit for a good cause. We're going to donate your $5 to organizations that are working to clean up the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico–potentially one of the worst environmental disasters in US history. Normally, Cubit accounts start at $499. But now for $1 each, 5 of your planners can have their own unlimited accounts until December 31, 2010.
