Local Government Leveraging of LEED-ND
Criterion Planners
To help communities accelerate sustainable development, Criterion Planners offers a one-day workshop for local land-use, transportation, and environmental planners on how to leverage the LEED-ND rating for maximum local benefit. While primarily for land developers, the LEED-ND system also offers local governments an unprecedented mechanism for achieving integrated smart growt, new urbanism, and green construction at the community scale. Criterion offers the workshop at a regional host agency's location for cities, counties, and special-purpose districts that are pursuing sustainability and climate protection goals.
The workshop includes a tour of rating system parts that interface with local plans and regulations, case studies of system use by local governments around the country, a method for local leveraging that includes a checklist of 100 ND components available for local implementation, and three interactive exercises applying ND to a sustainable neighborhood plan. Participants learn how to identify ND-eligible areas in their jurisdiction, and steps in aligning local measures with ND-required land-use densities, transportation networks, and design review standards.
The workshop is available for a minimum of 20 and maximum of 40 persons at $325/person. Attendees are eligible for 5.5 hours of AICP and GBCI credential maintenance credit. Additional information is available at www.crit.com/documents/leedndworkshop.pdf, or by contacting Eliot Allen at 503-224-8606 Ext 1 or [email protected].
