It's a common misconception that during an economic downturn, development projects are put on the shelf. Projects ARE still happening! Jobs are being created and communities are increasing their attractive built environment, global competitiveness and the attraction and retention of talented workers. Understanding how to conceive, finance, construct and operate – and all the steps in between – can be a challenge, but we're here to help! IEDC is excited to announce our newest keynote speaker, Mr. Blake L. Cordish, Vice President of Development for The Cordish Company.
In real estate development, The Cordish Company has diverse expertise with divisions focused on Entertainment & Mixed-Use, Gaming & Lodging, Sports Anchored Developments, Shopping & Lifestyle Retail, Office and Residential. However, they also not only develop these projects, they operate entertainment businesses in over 30 markets in North America! Attendees will gain both a developers perspective and a business operator owner's.
Most recently, the Las Vegas City Council selected The Cordish Company as the master developer for a new sports arena, hotel, casino and entertainment district in downtown Las Vegas. As the master developer, the Cordish Companies will conduct a feasibility analysis, create a master plan, and formulate a public-private financing mechanism to develop the district. Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman commented that "The Cordish Company is in a class of its own. A project of this magnitude and importance requires a truly unique company, especially during these unprecedented economic times."
Join IEDC in Oklahoma City this June and learn how you can take your community's projects off the shelf and make them happen! Hear the latest trends in mixed-use and entertainment projects from the developers' perspective and find out how communities can work with developers for urban revitalization.
