BOCEP Learning Labs: Easy, affordable way to get smarter about sustainability, leadership, economic development and more

Rutgers University Professional Development Institute

Are you looking for a convenient and affordable way to learn? Would you like to earn Certification Maintenance credits at less than half the cost of going to an expensive conference? Try a Bloustein Online Continuing Education Program Learning Lab.
Learning Labs are 60 to 90 minute interactive videoconferences you can participate in from anywhere you have an Internet connection. They cover a wide variety of topics:

*March 9: Cultural Competency: Skills for Working with Diverse Communities
*March 16: Cultural Heritage Tourism Basics
*March 23: Valuing the Arts in Economic Development
*March 30: Influence Analysis for Planning and Development
*April 8: The Role of Survey Services in the Planning Process
*April 20: Landscape Design: Value, Challenges and Sustainable Solutions

More Learning Labs are being planned for Spring and Summer 2010.

Every Learning Lab is interactive and taught by experts in urban planning, landscape architecture, sustainability, or community and economic development. Participants can ask questions and share their insights. Learning Labs cost $20 each and earn 1 to 1.5 AICP Certification Maintenance credits.

They are good and informative. More than 8 in 10 participants in Learning Labs gave them high marks for information, usefulness, clarity, instructors' knowledge, and their own ability to participate as much as they wanted. (Findings based on course evaluations of 107 respondents).

Learning Labs are produced by Rutgers University's Professional Development Institute, which works to build leaders for urban planning and public affairs in the 21st century.
