Housing Policy Debate to be published by Routledge from 2010

Routledge

Routledge Journals and the Metropolitan Institute at Virginia Tech are proud to announce a new publishing partnership.

In 2010, Routledge will become the publisher of Housing Policy Debate. For 20 years the quarterly has published original research, debate and reviews of the highest quality, engaging its readers in informed debate and research on a broad range of domestic and international topics, from real estate market trends to metropolitan development to the role of housing in community life. It is one of the world's most respected and highly ranked housing journals, esteemed by practising planners, policymakers and scholars for its authority, independence, and vision.

Housing Policy Debate came to Virginia Tech and Routledge after the dissolution of the Fannie Mae Foundation, which had previously supported the journal with a generous grant. Following the loss of this financial support the journal will now be available via subscription only.

Jessica Vivian, Editorial Director of Routledge Journals, said: "Routledge is delighted to be awarded the publishing contract for such a prestigious journal. Housing Policy Debate joins a highly ranked list in Planning and Housing Studies. Our partnership with the Metropolitan Institute at Virginia Tech reinforces Routledge's position as the pre-eminent international publisher in this subject area and we look forward to working with the editorial team to develop the journal further."

About Housing Policy Debate

Launched in 1990, Housing Policy Debate is among the world's leading housing and urban studies academic publications. Until May 2007 the journal was published by the Fannie Mae Foundation, and following the closure of the Foundation, management of the journal passed to the Virginia Polytechnic Institute. The goal of Housing Policy Debate is to provide insightful discussion and original research on a broad range of housing and community development issues. Each issue contains a "Forum" section and an "Articles" section. The Forum, which highlights a current debate, features a central article and responding comments that represent a range of perspectives. All articles in the Forum and Articles section undergo a double-blind peer review. On a recurring basis, Housing Policy Debate also features an "Outlook" section where the editors--occasionally with expert guest writers--comment on emerging areas of housing and metropolitan research or current events.
