Rutgers University Professional Development Institute

If you want high quality continuing education that combines the convenience of online learning with the knowledge sharing of a seminar, try a Bloustein Online Continuing Education Program course.

Produced by the Professional Development Institute of Rutgers University, BOCEP courses offer graduate level education that you can complete from your computer. In these courses, you can learn from seasoned experts and share ideas with thoughtful professionals from around the United States. Designed for busy professionals, BOCEP courses give you the time to learn, practice, and build your knowledgebase. You can also earn a Bloustein Professional Certificate, which can help you in your career development.

More than 30 courses are offered between now and June 2010. The four courses beginning in September are:
*Developer's Toolbox: Housing Market Analysis. Develop your ability to influence elected officials and leaders on the types of housing best suited for communities. Cost: $295. (A few $50 scholarships are available: Use promotion code BGBBS)
*Introduction to Urban Planning. Learn the fundamentals of urban planning practice. This class is valuable to anyone who doesn't have a planning degree and wants to take other BOCEP classes. Cost: $295. (A few $50 scholarships are available: Use promotion code BGBBS)
*New Jersey Planning Law. Designed to help participants prepare for the New Jersey Professional Planner exam, this class will help anyone who wants to do land use planning in the state. Cost: $270 until September 23, when it goes up to $295.
*Urban Design Analysis. Learn the critical skills needed to engage in urban design practice. Cost: $270 until September 23, when it goes up to $295.

All courses are taught at a graduate level. All except Introduction to Urban Planning are eligible for 14 AICP Certification Maintenance credits.

BOCEP courses are current, sophisticated, interactive and practical. They are taught by seasoned, working practitioners who are committed to your professional development. In all of these courses, you learn by engaging in dialogues with other professionals which are led by the instructors. Unlike courses where too much information is rushed at you, these courses give you the time to absorb knowledge, practice, and reflect on what you learned. Each course is 5.5 weeks and in most, there are no required meetings.

Never taken an online course? No worries – we give you time to get comfortable with the online learning format. Do BOCEP classes work? Yes. We have served more than 700 registrants and the vast majority of participants in course evaluations say they got a lot out of their course.

BOCEP is produced by the Professional Development Institute (PDI) of Rutgers University's Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy – which has one of the top planning programs in the United States.
