RFP Release: Economic Development/Revitalization Award
Local Initiatives Support Corporation
Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) is dedicated to helping nonprofit community development organizations transform distressed neighborhoods into healthy and sustainable communities of choice. Encouraging investments on commercial corridors is a key component of this work.
Urban Forum 2008 will give LISC an opportunity to honor those community development practitioners, community groups, and leaders who have helped to change the economic landscape of their community. Awards will be distributed in three categories, Community Leadership, Place-making, and Development.
Award Recognition
Both finalists and award winners will be recognized in a variety of ways. The transformational and innovative work of finalists will be compiled in an issue of the Commercial Markets Advisory Service's newsletter, the Commercial Advisor. The three award winners will garner national attention when they are announced during a plenary session at Urban Forum. Their achievements will be outlined in an article in the planned post-conference publication booklet, which will be distributed as part of two trade publications, Retail Traffic and American City and County. (These publications have a combined distribution list of 120,000 real estate, retail and economic development professionals.)
