The City of King City with the population of approximately 11,500 is located in the southern end of Monterey County and is seeking an intelligent, energetic individual to fill the position of Assistant/Associate Planner in the Community Development Department. The Assistant/Associate Planner reports directly to the Community Development Director and is responsible for a variety of duties common in the planning profession related to current and advanced planning, zoning, subdivision, works with GIS, and code enforcement functions of the City including: application permit processing; building permits, business license, architectural review; preparation of written reports to the Planning Commission and City Council; coordination of project review committee meeting, grant application preparation, oral presentation of staff reports to the Planning Commission and City Council; direct contact with the public at the counter and on the telephone; research; and record keeping.
Experience: Required qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architecture or related field and one (1) year experience in the profession. Master's degree in urban planning architecture or related field may be substituted for experience.
