The Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission
The Prince George's County Planning Department of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), hereinafter "the Commission" , is developing a Master Plan and Sectional Map Amendment (SMA) for Planning Areas 72, 75A, and 75B, hereinafter "Subregion Four". The purpose of the master plan is to implement the goals, policies, and strategies of the 2002 Prince George's County General Plan, to improve the quality and character of the county's established communities, promote mixed use development along transportation corridors and at targeted centers and nodes, encourage local economic development, and protect environmentally sensitive areas.
Subregion Four is located in central Prince George's County and is bordered by Route 50 (John Hanson Highway) on the north, the District of Columbia on the east, Suitland Parkway on the South and I-495 on the south. Subregion Four has been divided into six Living Areas, primarily residential areas containing one or more neighborhoods, including various types of housing, public and quasi-public facilities, parks, locally-serving commercial development and non-residential uses (e.g. fire stations, libraries, religious institutions, shopping centers).
