Development Review Specialist I - Historic Preservation

City of Asheville, NC - Planning and Development Department - Historic Resources - is seeking an employee to perform complex design review, development review, permitting,inspection,and enforcement work relating to the City of Asheville Code of Ordinances, Historic District Design Guidelines, Unified Development Ordinance, and other land development regulations for the City's Planning and Development Department. Employee in this class is responsible for reviewing and approving a wide variety of complex land development permit appications including applications for Minor and Major Work Certificates of Appropriateness for small commercial projects, residences, lighting and signs. This work involves assisting the general public with various forms and applications pertaining to design review, proper land use and zoning, as well as reviewing and coordinating the review of such applications. This position also requires administrative tasks for the Historic Resources Commission, such as preparation of meeting minutes and agendas.
Bachelors Degree in Historic Preservation, Urban Planning, Architecture or related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience required to perform the essential position functions. This position assists the Director of the Historic Resources Commission in the administration of the Historic Preservation Program for Asheville & Buncombe County.
