U-PLAN Community Planning Studio Call for Submissions
U-PLAN Community Planning Studio
Many community members have expressed concerns about the proposed University Avenue light rail line. U-RESEARCH allows residents of the Twin Cities to have their light rail questions answered by "citizen sleuths" from other cities with light rail. This is based on the concept of crowdsourcing. The goal is to empower citizens to make informed decisions about light rail planning and enhance their ability to effectively participate in the planning process.
Your input is vital to this experiment. If you are a planner, designer, city employee or a citizen who lives near light rail, we would like to hear from you. What have your experiences been? Has your city or organization been successful in tackling some of the issues we are facing? We invite you to participate in this 21st-century planning exercise.
U-PLAN is a community planning and design studio located at 1956 University Avenue in St. Paul, Minnesota. Community organizations recognized the need for high quality technical services to support the grassroots planning efforts occurring along the corridor in anticipation of light rail and future land use. More than $1 billion will be invested in this new transportation infrastructure, sparking significant redevelopment activity along the corridor. U-PLAN evolved form those discussions as a much-needed resource that could provide free, non-biased support "for the little guy". Our clients include small business owners, community organizations and residents along the corridor. U-PLAN helps to create places for people and will help ensure that this extraordinary transformation of the corridor will benefit the larger community.
