Welcome to the wonderful Massachusetts peninsula known as Cape Cod! Discover the charm and beauty of Cape Cod at this year's APA Southern New England Planning Conference. Hyannis, a village within the Town of Barnstable, is rich in history, culture, and quintessential charm. There are endless attractions and restaurants, not to mention numerous informative and instructive sessions, mobile workshops including a tour of Mashpee Commons and a duckmobile tour of Hyannis and other exciting conference activities.

The APA Southern New England Planning Conference will be held on October 11th and 12th, 2007 at the Four Points by Sheraton Hyannis Resort Cape Cod in Hyannis, Massachusetts. This annual regional conference titled "People Planning Places", brings together planners, designers, engineers, and others to learn and explore planning and development issues, strategies and technology.

This year's conference welcomes Ken Snyder, Executive Director of Placematters, a non-profit organization based in Colorado, working to promote high performance approaches to citizen collaboration, community design and development. Mr. Snyder is a nationally recognized expert on a broad range of technical and non-technical tools for community design and decision-making. In addition, Mr. Snyder is current Chair of the American Planning Association's Technology Division.

This year's conference also welcomes Greg Watson, Senior Advisor for Clean Energy Technology for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs. He serves as the Administration's point of contact for the clean energy entrepreneurial community. Previously, Greg worked for the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, as Vice President for Sustainable Development and Renewable Energy, and for the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative, (a resident-driven community planning organization in Roxbury, Massachusetts) as Executive Director.

Additionally, here's your opportunity to hear about the recently adopted AICP Certification Maintenance (CM) Program from the source. AICP President Graham Billingsley, AICP, and AICP Region I Commissioner Anna Breinich, AICP, will present an update on the new CM Program and what it means for AICP members.
