DESIGNING ACTIVE COMMUNITIES, PROMOTING HEALTHY LIFESTYLES
The Active Living Network, supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, works to promote the connection between places and health and to build a coalition of leaders interested in creating environments for people to be physically active.
This month, the Network is paying tribute to 10 people whose efforts to create more active communities are helping Americans lead healthier lives-the city planners, policymakers and other professionals whose ideas are being adopted nationwide.
"The Network's Top 10 Active Living Heroes highlight stories of people working towards safe, activity-friendly communities from every corner of the nation," says Welling Savo Justin, Active Living Network project manager. "Healthy living requires healthy places to be active every day. These heroes are making it happen. We are celebrating these heroes to show what's possible and connect great ideas across the country through our interactive website."
