The Montgomery County Department of Planning, Strategic Planning Division seeks a Planner Coordinator to serve as lead policy expert for the Division. The successful candidate plays an active role in informing Montgomery County, Maryland officials and citizens about crosscutting countywide issues and provides strategic assessment of land-use, park planning and policy issues that have countywide, interjurisdictional and regional significance. The ability to develop and manage interdivisional staff and the work program to deliver policy assessment for the Planning Board, County Council, and other divisions is requisite. Desired knowledge: Firm undertanding of established research principles and policy assessment. Ability to evaluate land-use, parks and other policy initiates. Ability to apply economic and statistical assessment to policy analysis; ability to analyze local, state, federal data, statistics and reports; and monitor and analyze legislative proposals and testimony for conformance with policies/priorities of the Department, Commission and Council. Knowledge of the principles of public policy, political science, ecnomics, and sociology.
