RMLUI's 15th ANNUAL LAND USE CONFERENCE FEATURES DR. PATRICK MOORE, CO-FOUNDER OF GREENPEACE
DENVER, Colorado (February 6, 2006) – The Rocky Mountain Land Use Institute (RMLUI) will host its 15th Annual Land Use Conference, the largest land use law conference in the United States, on March 9 & 10, 2006 in the Sturm College of Law on the University of Denver campus.
Dr. Patrick Moore, co-founder of Greenpeace and a leader and critic of the international environmental movement, will present the Keynote Address and John Carver Chair Distinguished Lecture. Dr. Moore is known to be a provocative speaker who prompts his audience to consider new tools for confronting contemporary environmental challenges.
Other notable speakers include U.S. Senator Ken Salazar, Hon. Richard Lamm, Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, Robert Freilich and Mary Kay Peck. Panelists will discuss important and relevant topics such as eminent domain, effective planning in the 21st century, recent court land use decisions, immigration in the Rocky Mountain states, and nature-friendly communities.
"The conference should be of interest to developers, real estate professionals, architects, and interested citizens," says James van Hemert, executive director of RMLUI. He also notes that RMLUI will offer in-depth examination of the 2005 Supreme Court decision Kelo v. City of New London, including debate about the case's pros and cons and its potential backlash. The nation's top legal analysts as well as the attorney from New London, Conn. will participate in the panel discussion.
Registration is available online at www.law.du.edu/rmlui and an early registration discount is offered through February 10th.
The Rocky Mountain Land Use Institute was established in 1992 as a non-profit forum for the purpose of undertaking education and research programs on legal and public policy issues related to land use and development.
