The University of New Orleans, College of Urban and Public Affairs, in partnership with the Planning Research Centre at the University of Sydney presents:
Professional Development Study Tour of TODs in Sydney, Australia
Sydney, Australia has consistently been rated as one of the best places to live and visit. Come and see what makes this city so great and check out a broad range of transit-oriented developments (TODs) that are built, under construction, and in the planning stages across Sydney. The tour will include the latest in sustainable development practices. Speakers include a number of international experts in planning and design from Australia and the USA.
What:
A week long study tour of transit-oriented developments (TODs) in Sydney, Australia. Meet planners, architects, developers, and policy makers. Participate in a TOD workshop. Optional master's level college credit available (3 credits). The tour will be led by TOD expert Dr. John L. Renne and planning expert Dr. Ed Blakely.
When:
June 26 - 30, 2006
Who Should Come:
Anyone from students to seasoned professionals in the planning, design, or real estate fields.
How Much:
$2,500 per person includes accommodations and some meals (not including airfare; participants must arrange their own travel plans)
Dr. Renne is a TOD expert in the USA and Australia. He has worked in the public and private sectors and has extensive TOD experience in both countries. He is the Associate Director of the University of New Orleans Transportation Center.
Dr. Blakely is an international planning expert and Director of the Planning Research Centre at the University of Sydney.
